NEW ZEALAND’S BIGGEST BARTENDER COMPETITION IS BACK

Auckland, New Zealand, 14 June 2013 – Beam Inc. (NYSE: BEAM), a leading global premium spirits company has today announced the return of the biggest bartender competition in New Zealand’s history – Beam Bar Legend. Beam Bar Legend gives bartenders across the nation an incredible opportunity to show off not only their skills behind the bar, but also their industryknowledge, with the overall winner taking away a prize pack valued at $25,000. The prize pack includes an all expenses paid international trip to a Beam brand distillery of their choice, an expense card valued at up to $10,000 ($200 per week) and a $5,000 staff party for their bar. Last yearwas the inaugural year of the competition,which receivedmore than 370 entries. “We recognised the need for a competition that everyday bartenders could enter,” says Calem Chadwick, Director of Beam Bar Legend. “What set’s this competition apart from the rest is that it’s not just about who can make the best drink.We want a bartender to represent our brands, engage with customers on a personal level as well as offeroutstanding service. It’s all about creating the experience of a great night out.” The 2012 winner Chase Bickerton called Beam Bar Legend a life changing experience. Chase, who is a co-owner of The Naughty Penguin in Queenstown, visited seven distilleries in four countries. “My time in Europe was insane.
